Educating the next generation of caregivers has been a focal point for the Guthrie Clinic for over a hundred years and we are continuing to expand the offering of programs here. With over 130 residents and fellows representing 11 ACGME-accredited programs and our pharmacy residency, we are committed to the patients and community we serve. Welcome to Guthrie’s Medical Education Department. Guthrie has a strong tradition of providing medical education which started in 1910 when the School of Nursing was founded. Guthrie recognizes that education is the foundation of a healthy community. Our institution provides a diverse patient population, dedicated faculty and preceptors, and excellent clinical departments to support the achievement of your educational goals. The Medical Education Office at Guthrie now serves a wide variety of learners that includes high school observer/shadowers, allied health students, nurses, and post-graduate physicians and pharmacists.
Guthrie’s medical education department supports approximately 1,500 students annually as they pursue their educational and training goals. We have cultivated agreements with over 240 educational affiliates and offer a wide range of observation and clinical experiences for students rotating at Guthrie.

As the Manager of the Residency and Fellowship Programs, it is a privilege to be a team member of our Graduate Medical Education Department. My position allows me to interact and coach the GME Team, Residents, Fellows, Faculty and Student learners. The position is ideal as it aligns with my background experience in Nursing, combined with a master’s degree in business and ACGME program management. Whether it is attracting and recruiting applicants, guiding staff members, or experiencing the joy of our highly qualified graduates, every day is a pleasure employed in Graduate Medical Education. Guthrie’s Administrative Fellowship Program is a two-year post graduate program provided to a recent graduate of an accredited MHA, MBA, or MSN program.
Residents at the hospital can participate in a diverse and complex variety of cases, and our teaching model encourages one-on-one training with our expert faculty physicians.
Guthrie represents the core values of patient centeredness, teamwork, and excellence. Its fellowship program is committed to these values as they seek to prepare leaders in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
Welcome to the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Emergency Medicine Program. Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital is the flagship tertiary care center for the Guthrie health system, which is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
As Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship Program we are committed to providing comprehensive and unique training in all areas of endocrine pathology, clinical experience in diverse patient population, and research opportunities.
Working with our exceptional Family Practice teaching physicians, each of whom has a devoted patient following and are passionate about teaching and encouraging new physicians, will help you to transform your knowledge base into a life of extraordinary patient care.
The Family Medicine Residency Program at Lourdes Hospital focuses on providing a high-quality, patient-centered approach to medicine and prepares residents to practice competently in diverse practice settings.
Our fellows will be provided with opportunities to develop clinical competence in gastroenterology, including exposure to hepatology, clinical nutrition, gastrointestinal oncology, radiology, and pathology.
The Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital General Surgery Residency Program is a comprehensive, five-year program designed to help medical students become competent, board-certified general surgeons who will be prepared to participate in rigorous fellowship programs and enjoy extraordinary careers as surgeons.
The Hematology-Oncology Fellowship at Guthrie is a three-year post-graduate program designed to provide the necessary teaching and skills in all areas of Hematology and Oncology.
The Guthrie Internal Medicine Residency Program is a three-year focused program, where residents are mentored by highly experienced clinicians using the latest in medical technology and simulation.
The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Lourdes Hospital is a 6-6-6 program focused on providing a broad base of medical knowledge in Internal Medicine and to graduate well rounded, compassionate and independent internists.
Guthrie’s year long Nurse Residency Program educates and supports newly licensed registered nurses through the transition from student to professional RN.
Our OR Nurse Fellowship program is designed to assist nurses as they transition into a perioperative role.
The Orthopaedic surgery residency program is a comprehensive, five-year program designed to develop outstanding subspecialty and community Orthopaedic surgeons.
As a pharmacist who has practiced at Guthrie since 2001, the reason I chose Guthrie over other institutions has never disappeared – it’s the family. In the halls, regardless of title, people smile at each other and say hello.
The Podiatry Medicine and Surgery Residency Program at Lourdes Hospital provides the necessary requirements for Board Qualification and Board Certification for American Board of Podiatric Medicine and American Board of Podiatric Surgery as approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education.
The Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital offers a comprehensive clinical experience in caring for patients with critical illness, as well as outpatients and inpatients with lung disease.
