Diversity and Inclusion
At the heart of our Internal Medicine Residency Program at Robert Packer Hospital lies a profound commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe that a diverse community of medical professionals leads to enriched patient care, innovative problem-solving, and a more compassionate healthcare environment. Our program is dedicated to creating a space where all residents, regardless of their background, feel valued, heard, and empowered to thrive. A culturally diverse committee of individuals is involved in an interview process to select residents. Our residency program proudly boasts a diverse blend of residents hailing from both American and international backgrounds. Our resident community is a vibrant tapestry woven with a rich array of cultures and experiences. Originating from countries spanning the globe—such as India, Pakistan, Nepal, Canada, Nigeria, the Philippines, Ukraine, Singapore, China, and South Korea—our residents collectively contribute to an enriching and globally inclusive learning environment.
Women In Medicine
Our commitment to empowering women in medicine is an ongoing journey that shapes the heart and soul of our Internal Medicine Residency Program. Within our program, women have ascended as chief residents, assumed roles as wellness champions, garnered prestigious residents of the year accolades, and earned recognition through state and institutional-level professionalism awards. At present, a substantial majority—more than 50%—of our resident cohort consists of women, underscoring our commitment to gender diversity. Acknowledging the intricate balance that women often navigate between their professional commitments and personal lives, we place a paramount emphasis on nurturing a harmonious work-life equilibrium. We prioritize the cultivation of a supportive framework that facilitates this balance. Through our provisions of flexibility and unwavering assistance, we ensure that all residents, regardless of their gender, are empowered to flourish both within their medical journeys and in the pursuit of their personal aspirations.
At the core of our Internal Medicine Residency Program at Robert Packer Hospital lies a steadfast commitment to cultivating an inclusive, supportive, and affirming environment for individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. We are resolute in our efforts to provide a safe space where all residents, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can thrive. Our residents get training that address LGBTQ+ health disparities, cultural competency, and appropriate terminology. This education equips our residents with the knowledge and skills to provide sensitive, patient-centered care.
