Mitral Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER) at Guthrie
Advanced Care for Your Heart

At Guthrie, we’re proud to offer Mitral Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER), a modern, minimally invasive treatment for mitral valve regurgitation. This condition happens when the valve between the left chambers of your heart do not close properly, causing blood to leak backward. Over time, this can make your heart work harder and lead to symptoms like shortness of breath, tiredness, and chest pain.

TEER is a game-changing procedure that can improve how your heart works, ease your symptoms, and help you feel better overall.

Why Choose Guthrie for TEER?

Experienced Team
Our heart specialists are the most experienced in the area. Led by Dr. Sudhakar Sattur and Dr. Chanderdeep Singh, our team is dedicated to providing the best care for your heart.

Minimally Invasive Procedure
TEER is done through a small incision, using advanced imaging tools. This means it’s safer than traditional open-heart surgery, with less pain and a quicker recovery. During the procedure, we use devices like MitraClip or Pascal to help your valve close better and reduce blood leakage.

Advanced Technology
We use the latest medical technology to ensure you get the best care possible. TEER is performed in a specialized lab with real-time imaging to make the procedure as safe and precise as possible.

Benefits of TEER

  • Better Heart Function: Helps your heart pump blood more effectively.

  • Symptom Relief: Reduces shortness of breath, tiredness, and chest pain.

  • Faster Recovery: Shorter hospital stays and quicker return to your normal activities.

  • Lower Risk of Hospital Visits: Reduces the chance of future hospitalizations for heart problems.

  • Improved Quality of Life: Many patients feel less worried and enjoy a better sense of well-being.

What to Expect

Before the Procedure
We’ll do a full evaluation to see if TEER is right for you. This may include:

  • Heart imaging tests: To check how your heart and valves are working.

  • Blood tests: To look for any health issues that could affect your heart.

  • Other tests: Like ultrasounds or angiograms to get a clear picture of your heart and blood flow.

During the Procedure
TEER is done under general anesthesia and usually takes 2-3 hours. A small tube (catheter) is inserted through a tiny cut in your groin and guided to your heart. The MitraClip or Pascal device is then placed to help your valve close properly and improve blood flow.

After the Procedure
Most patients stay in the hospital for 1-2 nights and can start walking within 24 hours. Follow-up care includes regular checkups, imaging tests and advice on medications, diet and exercise to keep your heart healthy.
