New Program Director:

Dr. Sheela Prabhu has assumed the role of Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Robert Packer Hospital on August 9, 2018. She succeeds Dr. Mathew Novak who served in the role for two years.

Dr. Prabhu began her academic training at Mangalore University where she received a bachelor of science degree and later attended Mysore Medical College where she obtained her MBBS in 1998. She completed her internal medicine residency at Guthrie/Robert Packer Hospital and her fellowship training was completed in geriatrics at Oregon Health & Science University. She began her career at Guthrie in 2004 and has held various leadership appointments as Section Chief, Department of Internal Medicine and the Lead Medical Physician for PROME Clinic. Most importantly, she has served as Core Faculty within the Internal Medicine residency since 2006 and more recently Associate Program Director.

Dr. Prabhu’s commitment to education will enhance the learning environment within the current Internal Medicine Residency as well as contribute to our strategic plan as we grow the total number of training programs within Guthrie.
