UltrasoundUltrasound uses sound waves to make pictures of the body. Ultrasound does not use X-rays or radiation to make these pictures. There are no known harmful effects of ultrasound the way it is used in medicine. Ultrasound can be helpful in imaging many parts of the body in many situations. Most commonly it is used to image the kidneys, gallbladder and other parts of the abdomen, the neck and thyroid, blood vessels, the testes and of course, babies in Obstetrical Ultrasound. Ultrasound is often used in Women’s Imaging. Some preparation is sometimes necessary and you will be given complete instructions when you call to schedule an appointment.

Guthrie offers ultrasound imaging at all three of our hospitals and at many of our medical office locations.
