20th Annual Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot Live Race with Virtual Options for 2026.

Be a part of this beloved holiday tradition and the largest 5K in Bradford County, with over 1,200 runners participating annually! This flat, fast course starts and finishes at the historic Sayre Theatre, and the course runs on local streets through the Athens and Sayre Boroughs. All proceeds from the Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot benefit the Guthrie Cancer Care Fund.

Little Turkeys! Kids' Fun Run
The Kids' Fun Run (ages 10 and younger) is free, and there is no official registration process for our young trotters. Near the race day packet pickup area at the Sayre Theater on race morning, kids can fill out a paper with their name and enter a drawing for a free raffle prize. The first 50 kids will receive a free gift.

Schedule:

  • 9:15 a.m. – Raffle drawing at the Sayre Theater under the marquee
  • 9:30 a.m. – All children ages 10 and younger will line up at the intersection of S. Elmer Ave. and W. Hayden St. and run down S. Elmer Ave. to the Turkey Trot finish line in front of the Sayre Theater marquee.

Parents are welcome to run the Kids' Fun Run with their little turkeys for free.

Runners and walkers of all skill levels, get ready to drumstick dash your way across the start line as our family-friendly event kicks off.

  • 10 a.m. – 5K race begins

RACE RESULTS AND AWARDS

Race Results and Awards
Race results will be posted online following the race. The top two or three finishers in our live race from each age group and the overall winners will receive a medal immediately following the race.

5K Awards (Live Race Only):

  • Overall male and female 5K participants – 1st place: $100 gift card / 2nd place: $75 gift card / 3rd place: $50 gift card
  • First Master's (ages 40–49) – Male and female 5K participants: $50 gift card
  • First Grand Master's (ages 50–59) – Male and female 5K participants: $50 gift card
  • First Seniors' (ages 60–69) – Male and female 5K participants: $50 gift card
  • Race Route Record Breaker – The person who sets the next Sayre Turkey Trot USA Track & Field certified race route record will receive a $50 gift card. (Current male record set in 2017: 16:16.71 by John Johnson. Current female record set in 2017: 18:03.32 by Kenzie Jones.)
  • Team awards – 1st through 3rd place for all-male, all-female, and co-ed teams
  • Age group awards – 1st through 3rd place in each age group:
    12 and under, 13–15, 16–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70–74, 75–79, 80 and older

VIRTUAL RACE INFORMATION

Virtual Race Time and Place
The virtual race will take place Nov. 23–Nov. 25. Run anytime, anywhere during Thanksgiving week. The Turkey Trot official course will be closed to virtual runners during the hours of the live race on Nov. 26.

Virtual Race Swag
Virtual race runners' packets and race swag can be picked up at early packet pick-up Wednesday, November 25, 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., Guthrie Building, 2900 Elmira Street, Sayre, PA 18840 (Tops Plaza) 

  • Register by Oct. 25 to guarantee you will receive your 20th Annual Turkey Trot T-shirt. T-shirts may be available after Oct. 25 in limited quantities. There are no refunds or exchanges available for T-shirts.
  • Virtual runner packets can be mailed to participants upon request.
  • Virtual race participants are not eligible for age group or overall awards.

Virtual participants will be able to record their own time and challenge themselves by tracking other virtual racers. Remember, this is based on the honor system. There’s no need to upload data to Strava or record your mile with a GPS. Once registered, you can upload your time with these steps:

  1. Log into RunSignUp using the email you used to register.
  2. Click on "RESULTS," then click on the blue box labeled "SUBMIT VIRTUAL RESULTS." Search for your name.
  3. Add your time and save your results. It might take a few minutes to update in the overall results, but you can refresh the page and wait.

2026 Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot Beneficiary – Guthrie Cancer Care Fund

Proceeds from the 2025 Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot raised more than $70,000 for Guthrie’s Cancer Care Fund. This fund is designed to help with the many financial burdens that come with fighting a cancer diagnosis, whether it’s arranging payment to heat a home for a patient undergoing chemotherapy or providing gas gift cards to help patients get to and from treatment.

Because of your generosity, Guthrie cancer patients will receive the critical financial assistance they need as they complete their fight against cancer.

RACE CANCELLATION

The Guthrie Cancer Care Fund relies on income from this event to fulfill its mission to provide critical assistance to Guthrie cancer patients facing a financial crisis, therefore, refunds are not available.    

In the event the Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot live race is forced to cancel, all participants will automatically be transitioned to the virtual race and still receive their awesome race swag in the mail! All applicable sponsorship benefits will be honored and 100% of your generous sponsorship will benefit the Cancer Care Fund.
