The program strives to be a meritocracy, in which fellows are recruited based on their academic record, work and potential. This is done without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or genetic information. This approach has allowed the program to consistently recruit a strong and inclusive group of fellows.

The faculty and administrative personnel are made up of an inclusive group of individuals from a multitude of backgrounds. A committee of individuals is involved in an interview process to select core faculty when positions become vacant. A concerted effort is made through this process to not only maintain the heterogeneity of the faculty, but the core faculty as well. The Guthrie Clinic and Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital are equal opportunity employers and have consistently been able to recruit a heterogeneous faculty and staff, despite our rural location.
