2016 Community Outreach

March 4, 2016 - Go blue Day

This event was an awareness event supported by the Colon Cancer Alliance who promote Colon Cancer screenings and prevention. We provided colorectal cancer awareness, prevention, and screening information to patients and staff members. The entire facility was encouraged to wear Blue to show support for the cause.


June 5, 2016 - Survivors Day

The annual event took place at the Tioga Downs Casino racetrack in Nichols, N.Y. The day was filled with hope and celebration as we honored our community members whose lives have been impacted by cancer. There were several guest speakers including three survivors and Dr. Bradley Lash. The event hosted 300 people and gained local media attention.

June 10, 2016 - Tina Pickett Senior Expo

Colorectal Cancer prevention and screening information was presented to over 1400 patients. 



July 15, 2016 - American Legion Convention

Colorectal Cancer prevention and screening information presented to over 1500 veterans in Broome County.


August 19 - 20, 2016 - Colorectal Cancer Community Health Day

Two events in Corning and Sayre, reaching over 175 people with colorectal cancer prevention information. Over 50 people underwent a risk assessment to learn their personal risk of colorectal cancer. Based on their percentages, patients were offered the option to take home hemoccult screening cards.

September 28, 2016 - Updates in Hematologic Malingancies Presentation/Dinner

This event was sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Dr. Bradley Lash, Medical Oncologist at Guthrie, save a presentation on hematologic malignancy updates to 60 people. This presentation including information on new chemotherapy agents, clinical trials, and other data relevant to hematologic malignancies.
