What is Internal Medicine?

Internal medicine is primary care for adults, from teen years through later life. Internal medicine PCPs are trained in the prevention and treatment of adult diseases.

Preventative care

  • Allergy shots
  • Health screenings and physicals
  • Immunizations, including flu shots

Management of chronic conditions, including:

  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Migraines
  • High blood pressure
  • Irritable bowel

Acute and sick care

  • Minor injuries such as lacerations, sprains diagnosing broken bones

Short-term illness such as respiratory infections and pneumonia, tendonitis and shingles
