Cochlear® Implants:

Guthrie offers Cochlear implants, surgically implanted hearing devices. Cochlear implants not only make sounds louder, like traditional hearing aids, but clearer as well. Cochlear implants are typically covered by most insurance plans.

You could be a candidate for a Cochlear implant if you are profoundly deaf or hard of hearing. Guthrie offers comprehensive hearing evaluations from our specially trained Otolaryngologists and Audiologists at any of our five ENT locations.

MAXUM® Hearing Implant:

Our specially trained otology physician offers help for hearing impairment beyond traditional hearing aids, including implantable hearing devices. The MAXUM® System is a middle ear implant with an advanced sound processor worn in the ear canal. Unlike traditional hearing aids, MAXUM® uses signals transferred via electromagnetic energy across the eardrum providing cleaner, crisper sound quality and more amplification without additional feedback.

You could be a candidate for the MAXUM® System if you experience moderate to severe high-frequency hearing loss. Guthrie offers comprehensive hearing evaluations from our trained Otolaryngologists and Audiologists at any of our five ENT locations.

Ponto System

At Guthrie we offer bone-anchored sound processor options for patients who still experience difficulty with hearing even with a traditional hearing aid. The Ponto System consists of a small implant placed into the bone behind the ear, an external abutment and a sound processor, which rests on the abutment outside the ear.  The Ponto System offers additional speech enhancement options and a wireless communicator for advanced sound quality.

You could be a candidate for a Ponto System if you are experiencing conductive hearing loss, unilateral hearing loss or single-sided deafness. Guthrie offers comprehensive hearing evaluations from our specially trained Otolaryngologists and Audiologists at any of our five ENT locations.

Baha®

The Baha® System is a bone-anchored device that transfers sound via direct bone conduction. The Baha® System offers two attachment options. It can be traditionally implanted to the bone behind the ear with the sound processor attached via an external abutment or it can be attached with a magnet implanted under the skin.

You could be a candidate for a Baha® if you are experiencing conductive hearing loss, unilateral hearing loss or single-sided deafness. Guthrie offers comprehensive hearing evaluations from our specially trained Otolaryngologists and Audiologists at any of our five ENT locations.
