Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Named One of the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in the Nation

50 Top Cardiovascular HospitalsGuthrie Robert Packer Hospital has once again been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics. Truven Health Analytics (formerly known as Thomson Reuters) is a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of health care.

This is the ninth time Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital has achieved the impressive status of being among the elite best cardiovascular hospitals in the United States.  The study singled out 50 hospitals across the country that achieved superior clinical outcomes in this critical area of hospital care. Truven Health used rigorous processes to calculate and measure hospital service lines, as well as in evaluating quality indicators and efficiencies. The identified hospitals shared key attributes such as higher survival rates, fewer patient complications and lower costs.

“This is an outstanding honor that reflects the skill and dedication of our staff as they work closely together to continuously improve the quality of cardiac care Guthrie provides,” states Marie Droege, President of Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. She adds, “We are very pleased to have received this recognition by Truven Health Analytics and are excited to share this phenomenal news with the communities we serve.”

Dwight Stapleton, MD, Chief of Cardiovascular Services said: “We are very proud that Guthrie has again been recognized as a national leader in cardiovascular care. This would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts and expertise of all of our staff, from our clinicians to our nurses to our support staff. The Cardiac and Vascular Center is committed to delivering outstanding care to our patients, and we continue to grow and develop our services to ensure that the region has the access to the most advanced treatment, such as the introduction of new procedures like the non-surgical replacement of damaged heart valves (TAVR). We are also committed to educating the next generation of cardiovascular clinicians through our in house cardiology fellowship program.”
