Beginning on Aug. 1, Guthrie will give patients the option to add a photo to their confidential electronic medical record at all Guthrie locations.
This new feature provides an extra layer of security to patient identification, ensuring the correct medical record and insurance information are accessed when a patient receives care at Guthrie. The photo is optional, but patients are encouraged to participate.
The initial photo will be added to the medical record by the front office staff during any visit. If a patient is under the weather or prefers to wait, the option to take the photo at another visit will be available. Adults will then be asked to update their photos every three years, while children under age 18 will be encouraged to update photos yearly.
These photos will become part of the confidential medical record and will be used only for the purpose of patient identification by Guthrie staff. If patients have questions about this new process, they may call their provider office for more information.
