Guthrie is pleased to announce the recent three-year reaccreditation of its mobile MRI and CT units by the American College of Radiology (ACR). These small mobile units allow multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art imaging services to travel to smaller facilities so patients do not have to travel.
“We are proud of the high quality imaging services that Guthrie offers at its hospitals and clinic locations. This accreditation demonstrates the high standard of care that we are able to provide for each patient that comes through our doors. Our mobile units allow us to extend the imaging services we offer to patients across the region, improving access and reach for these much needed studies,” said Dr. Joseph Ronsivalle, Chief of Radiology at Guthrie.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The assessment evaluates image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
Guthrie has mobile imaging units which offer MRI, CT and PET scan tests. These tests allow health care providers to see organs and structures inside the body. They are used to diagnose conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, appendicitis, tumors, liver disease, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.
Four mobile units travel to Guthrie sites in Big Flats, Ithaca, and Wellsboro, and supplement imaging services at all four hospitals.
