Guthrie Corning Hospital Receives Women's Choice Award® for Patient Safety

Guthrie Corning Hospital has been named a recipient of the Women’s Choice Award ® recognizing America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety for the second consecutive year.

Garrett Hoover, President of the hospital, said: “We are proud to be recognized by our patients as leaders in patient safety. To be considered, our hospital had to meet rigorous health care satisfaction standards and be highly rated by the women we have cared for at Guthrie Corning Hospital. This award signifies that women across our area can choose Guthrie Corning Hospital with confidence knowing that other women have experienced the exceptional care we provided here and would highly recommend it to their family and friends.”

Hospitals earning the patient safety award rank in the top 16 percent of hospitals reporting on measures related to infections and complications to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  The eleven measures CMS publicly reports relate to safety measures, and hospitals receiving the award must also implement an inpatient safe surgery checklist to assess effective communication and safe practices during operations.

The Women’s Choice Award ® for Patient Safety is the only award recognizing excellence in patient safety based on robust criteria that consider patient satisfaction and clinical excellence.

The Women’s Choice Award® is a trusted referral source, empowering women to make smart healthcare choices by identifying the country’s best healthcare institutions based on robust criteria that consider female patient satisfaction and clinical excellence.
