Sayre, Pa. – In recognition of Guthrie Corning Hospital’s focus on excellence in stroke care, the facility has received the American Heart Association/American Stoke Association’s Get with the Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award.
“To be recognized by the Get With The Guidelines program is incredibly gratifying to the physicians and clinical staff who work so hard to develop the expertise required to quickly and appropriately treat patients who have suffered from stroke,” said Guthrie Corning Hospital President Shirley Magaña. “Guthrie Corning Hospital is proud to offer this crucial service to our community.”
Hospitals must achieve an 85 percent or higher adherence to the Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month intervals and achieved 75 percent or higher compliance with six of 10 Get With the Guidelines-stroke Quality measures, which measure quality of care. The guidelines include an aggressive use of appropriate medication like “clot busters”, being proactive about Deep Vein Thrombosis prevention and working with patients on smoke cessation.
Additionally, Guthrie Corning Hospital was also named to the association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll for improving stroke care.
