Guthrie Corning Hospital Breast Care Center Accredited in Stereotactic Breast Biopsy

Guthrie Corning Hospital Breast Care Center has been awarded a full three-year accreditation in Stereotactic Breast Biopsy by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

“Guthrie’s Breast Care team of radiologists, technologists, nurses, surgeons and oncologists are all committed to providing excellence in comprehensive management of breast disease, including cancer,” said Dr. David Channin, Chair of Guthrie Medical Imaging. “This accreditation speaks to the skill of our imaging team and their dedication to imaging quality and patient safety.”

Imaging at the Guthrie Corning Hospital Breast Care Center is led by Dr. Geneva Ballard, a board-certified, fellowship trained Body and Breast Imager. Dr. Ballard is part of a team of board certified, fellowship trained radiologists that provide breast imaging and intervention services across the Guthrie system.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety and is awarded only after a peer-review evaluation. The evaluation, performed by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, assesses image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs. The Guthrie Breast Care Center at Corning Hospital is also ACR accredited in Mammography.
