Guthrie Corning Hospital and 1199 SEIU Reach New Agreement

Guthrie Corning Hospital is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with 1199 SEIU on a new three-year contract.  Negotiation sessions began on March 15th.

“We are pleased to have reached a fair and equitable agreement that will ensure long-term continuity of service at Guthrie Corning Hospital to deliver on our commitment to our patients and our community,” said Garrett Hoover, President of Guthrie Corning Hospital. Hoover complimented the efforts of the negotiating teams on both sides. “Guthrie Corning Hospital employees have been represented by 1199 SEIU since 1995.  Both bargaining teams focused on key issues and worked collaboratively to reach a tentative agreement to be an employer of choice and enable all of us to continue delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.  I commend the leadership of 1199 SEIU for their work on behalf of their members and their focus on positive labor-management relations.”

1199 SEIU represents approximately 500 unionized workers at Guthrie Corning Hospital including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical technicians, clerical, service, and maintenance employees.

A vote to ratify the three-year contract will be held by the 1199 SEIU members on Monday, May 7th.
