The 13th Annual Golf for Guthrie Hospice raised over $40,000 for hospice care. The event was held on June 19 at the Club at Shepard Hills in Waverly, N.Y. More than 50 local sponsors and donors, and 36 teams contributed to this year’s event. First place honors were awarded to the Wyoming Casing Team.
The event also saw the generous donation of $5,000 to Guthrie Hospice from the Sayre American Legion Post 283 in honor of their former commander Bruce Newman who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
The mission of the tournament is to raise funds for Guthrie Hospice to enhance and support hospice programs and services, as well as offset the expenses related to caring for low-income patients. The tournament has raised over $400,000 since it began in 2003.
Guthrie Hospice provides end of life services for patients and their families throughout the region as well as bereavement services in the community. Services are provided to all who request them, regardless of their ability to pay.
Many local and regional businesses as well as individuals support this tournament at various levels. The Golf for Guthrie Hospice tournament committee wishes to thank all of the sponsors, donors, and volunteers who contributed to this year’s tournament. Williams Auto Group was once again the title sponsor and Keck’s Food Service, Inc. was the Banquet Sponsor as they have been since inception.
