Rotation Schedule
PGY-1 rotations are each one month long, while the PGY-2 through PGY-5 rotations are each four months long (except where noted).
The PGY-1 year includes rotations in:
- Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery
- Adult Reconstruction (Total Joint Replacement) Surgery
- Sports Medicine
- Neurosurgery/Spine Surgery
- General Surgery Trauma
- Surgical Intensive Care
- Radiology
- Plastic Surgery
- Emergency Medicine
One of the most exciting rotations of the intern year is the full month-long “Orthopaedic Boot Camp” rotation. During this rotation, PGY-1 residents are immersed in learning the basics of orthopaedic surgery; they complete the newly required intern skills modules, and spend time in a combination of didactic lectures and hands-on learning in cadaveric and clinical skills labs. This rotation has the sole goal of providing the PGY-1 class with the knowledge and skills required to hit the ground running in their PGY-2 year rotations.
The PGY-2 year includes rotations in:
- Adult Reconstruction Surgery
- Orthopaedic Trauma
- Hand Surgery
The PGY-3 year includes rotations in:
- Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery
- Sports Medicine/Shoulder Surgery
- Foot and Ankle Surgery
The PGY-4 year includes rotations in:
- Spine Surgery
- Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery
- Two-month Elective Rotation
- Two-month Hand Surgery rotation
The PGY-5 year includes rotations in:
- Sports Medicine/Shoulder Surgery
- Adult Reconstruction Surgery
- Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery
