Who will I see with Guthrie Now?
You will see a licensed physician or midlevel provider. When you start your visit, you will be given the opportunity to select from a list of available providers, including Guthrie providers. Other providers are employed by American Well.
How do providers diagnose without a physical exam?
Providers can use a variety of methods to diagnose via telemedicine, including a review of your symptoms, a discussion about what you are experiencing, and a visual assessment of your behavior and symptoms.
When is it appropriate to use Guthrie Now?
Guthrie Now can be used to diagnose common conditions such as:
- Bug Bites
- Colds/Sore Throat
- Head Lice
- Mild to Moderate Headaches
- Nausea/Upset Stomach
- Sinus Infection
- Sprains and Strains
- Urinary Tract Infection
When is it not appropriate to use Guthrie Now?
Guthrie Now is not appropriate for medical emergencies. If you have any of the following symptoms or conditions, go to the emergency room or call 911 immediately.
- Chest pain or difficulty breathing
- Severe heart palpitations
- Severe abdominal pain
- Signs of a heart attack
- Signs of a stroke (loss of vision, sudden weakness or numbness, slurred speech)
- Confusion or an altered mental state
- Sudden, severe headache
- Sudden vision changes
- Severe burns
- Broken bones
- Heavy bleeding
- Suicidal feelings

Yes, for children ages 2 and up. You may add your children to your account at any time.
How much does Guthrie Now cost?
Guthrie costs $49 per visit. A credit card is required to pay at the time of your visit.
Guthrie employees and family members with the Guthrie Network Advantage Plan pay a $15 co-pay.
Will my insurance cover the visit?
Guthrie does not submit claims for Guthrie Now visits to health insurance carriers. Depending on your insurance coverage, you may wish to submit a claim to be reimbursed for your visit. Check with your health plan for details about coverage.
Can I get a prescription?
Yes, if your provider thinks a prescription medication is necessary and appropriate. Your provider will send your prescription directly to your pharmacy.
What equipment and devices do I need?
In order to use Guthrie Now, you will need access to the internet and either a computer with webcam and microphone, a smart phone or a tablet.
Is my health information protected on Guthrie Now?
Yes. Guthrie Now providers are subject to the same regulations and policies as other providers regarding patient privacy and use of patient information. The platform is compliant with privacy regulations.

Yes. All procedures and practices are based on frameworks recognized as secure, and the platform is regularly assess according to security and privacy standards.
