Presenters
Nicholas Annesi, MS, LAT, ATC
Nick is a full-time athletic trainer at Spencer-Van Etten High School through Guthrie. He earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a master's degree in athletic training from SUNY Cortland. He is certified in BLS, CPR and AED and focuses on providing high-quality care to athletes on and off the field. Nick's interests include emergency management, on-field emergency care and concussion evaluation and management. He is dedicated to helping student-athletes safely return to sport through evidence-based rehabilitation, injury prevention strategies and individualized patient care. Outside of athletic training, Nick enjoys playing baseball and golf, and he values building strong relationships with the athletes, coaches and communities he serves.
Jessica Callear, MS, MSACN, ACSM-EP, CHC, NCSF-SNS
Jessica is a certified exercise physiologist, sport nutritionist and health coach with over 15 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Scranton and two master’s degrees - one in Nutrition from Marywood University and another in Applied Clinical Nutrition from Northeast College of Health Sciences. Additionally, she is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Medicine, a Certified Health Coach with the National Society of Health Coaches and a Sports Nutrition Specialist with the National Council on Strength and Fitness. Jessica sees patients at Guthrie Big Flats and Sayre weight loss centers.
Brittany Calvasina, PT, DPT
Brittany has been a practicing physical therapist for over 15 years. She graduated from Utica University (College) in 2010 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Most of her experience is in outpatient orthopedics – she has a strong interest in orthopedic rehabilitation with a focus on post-surgical knee recovery (ACL, multi-ligamentous knee injuries), foot and ankle injuries, running injuries, as well as functional movement. Brittany runs the Bridge program, a transitional return to sport program, at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital Pavilion location. In her tenure, Brittany has become certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Y-Balance Test, and Blood Flow Restriction (BFR).
Harry Campbell, MS, ATC
Harry Campbell was named SUNY Cortland's head athletic trainer in May 2024. He previously worked as an athletic trainer at the University of Rochester, beginning in August 2015, and served as the school's head football athletic trainer starting in 2021. In that role, Harry managed all aspects of athletic training services and injury management for 23 NCAA Division II intercollegiate varsity sports, with primary assignments in football, men's basketball, men's soccer and softball.
Robert M. Corey, MD
Dr. Corey is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon who has been with Guthrie since 2021. He earned his medical degree from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in 2013 and completed an internship in general surgery at Robert Packer Hospital in 2014. Dr. Corey finished his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2020, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in 2021. In 2023, he earned a Surgery of the Hand certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Patrick Donnelly, EdD, ATC
Patrick joined SUNY Cortland in 2006, serving as an athletic trainer and instructor for 17 years before becoming coordinator of clinical education and a core faculty member for the Master of Science in athletic training program. His responsibilities include overseeing the clinical education portion of the program and teaching graduate coursework. Patrick's areas of expertise include clinical assessment and evaluation of injuries as well as acute care and emergency management.
Brittney Galutz, PT, DPT
Brittney is a doctor of physical therapy with more than 14 years of experience in the field. She earned her bachelor's degree from SUNY Oneonta and her doctorate from SUNY Upstate Medical University. She has worked for Guthrie since 2018 in the outpatient rehabilitation department and previously gained experience in subacute rehabilitation and pediatrics. Brittney currently serves as a lead physical therapist and student coordinator for clinical education. She treats patients of all ages and conditions, from infants to geriatric adults, including athletes and athletic injuries, pre-joint rehabilitation, joint replacements and neurological conditions, and she specializes in treating patients with Parkinson's disease. Brittney is a certified LSVT BIG clinician, a youth exercise specialist and a 200-level registered yoga teacher. She enjoys restoring function, promoting a healthy lifestyle and helping patients return to their previous level of function and beyond.
Gio Garriga
Gio has served as an EMT since 2008, beginning his EMS career in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is a certified Stop the Bleed instructor and is committed to advancing emergency medical education and community preparedness. Gio currently serves with the Enfield Fire Department and participates in the Tompkins County EMS Fly Car Program, providing rapid medical response and patient care throughout the region.
Rex David S. Gido, DO, CAQSM
Dr. Gido is a sports medicine physician who has worked at Guthrie since 2021. He graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016, completed his residency in family medicine at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and a primary care sports medicine fellowship at AHN St. Vincent in Erie, Pa. Dr. Gido serves as team physician for the Cornell men's and women's basketball teams and the NYCBL Cortland Crush baseball team, and is an assistant professor of sports medicine at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. His clinical interests include ultrasound-guided procedures, concussion management and orthobiologic interventions for musculoskeletal issues.
Alexis Marchitte, PT, DPT, LAT, ATC
Alexis is a physical therapist and licensed athletic trainer. She earned her bachelor's degree from SUNY Brockport and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from SUNY Upstate. She has worked for Guthrie since 2022 in the outpatient rehabilitation department and with the occupational medicine team. Alexis treats patients of all ages and conditions, including athletic injuries, joint replacements, chronic pain and neurological conditions. Through occupational medicine, she is contracted to a local steel mill, where she helps employees manage work-related and non-work-related aches and pains. Alexis enjoys rehabilitating athletic injuries across the lifespan and helping patients return to the activities they love most.
Melinda Pitman, EMTP, CIC
Melinda serves as the SUNY Upstate EMS education clinical coordinator, a paramedic and a New York state certified instructor coordinator. She holds a bachelor's degree from Wells College and has gained more than a decade of diverse EMS experience in urban, suburban and rural settings. Her work includes interfacility transport, event standbys for high school sports, marathons, music performances and motocross races, and service as a paramedic in the emergency department through the COVID-19 pandemic. A lifelong athlete, Melinda has combined her love of sports with EMS, serving as a paramedic for the Syracuse Crunch hockey team and collaborating with the Syracuse University athletic training staff on medical simulations. She is an American Heart Association CPR, ACLS and PALS instructor, a NAEMT instructor and an ACS Stop the Bleed instructor, and she teaches New York state EMT and paramedic education classes.
Amanda Robertson, PT, DPT, OCS
Amanda is a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist and owner of FLX Physical Therapy, where she specializes in evaluating and treating runners. She earned both her Bachelor’s degree and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Nazareth University. With 15 years of clinical expertise in running-related injuries, Amanda emphasizes individualized care, patient education and strength-based rehabilitation to help athletes safely return to sport and optimize performance.
Cole Williams, CSCS
Cole is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist working at Tioga Central Schools through Guthrie. A former collegiate football player at SUNY Morrisville, he developed a strong interest in strength and conditioning through his experience as an athlete. Prior to his time at Guthrie, Cole worked in collegiate strength and conditioning environments at Colgate University, a Division I program, and SUNY Morrisville, a Division III program. He focuses on helping athletes build strength, speed and movement quality while reducing injury risk, and remains committed to growing as a coach and helping athletes perform at a high level.
