Guthrie Celebrates Doctors' Day

Guthrie is proud to recognize the more than 300 physicians that care for Guthrie patients throughout our eleven-county service area on this Doctors’ Day, March 30.

Doctors’ Day celebrates and recognizes the contributions of physicians to individual lives and communities. Dr. Frederick Bloom, President of Guthrie Medical Group, said, “Guthrie is proud to recognize each of our dedicated physicians today for the compassionate, expert care they provide year-round to each patient who comes through our doors. As a physician-led organization, Guthrie is thankful for our outstanding physicians who keep patients at the center of all that we do.”

In addition to a robust network of primary care and specialist physicians, Guthrie is proud to have a hand in training the upcoming generation of physicians through its residency programs in internal medicine, family medicine and general surgery, and its cardiovascular fellowship program.

A total of 22 residents will join the three residency programs at Guthrie in the 2018-19 academic year, many of whom hail from local medical schools in Pennsylvania and New York, including Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and SUNY Upstate Medical University. Guthrie will also welcome two physicians as cardiology fellows.

Guthrie is a non-profit integrated health system located in north central Pennsylvania and upstate New York, serving patients from an 11-county service area. Guthrie is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, and is the first health system based in Pennsylvania and New York to join this network. Guthrie is comprised of a research institute, home care/hospice, hospitals in Sayre, Pa., Corning, N.Y., Towanda, Pa., and Troy, Pa., as well as a multi-specialty group practice of more than 300 physicians and 190 advanced practice providers in a regional office network encompassing 45 sub-specialty and primary care sites in 21 communities throughout Pennsylvania and New York.  Guthrie offers a wide range of services and programs designed to enhance the health and well-being of those it serves.
