UpToDate Patient Education

Assigned Learning for Patients

Guthrie partners with Wolters Kluwer to provide UpToDate, a library of educational programs addressing chronic condition management, health and wellness topics, medical tests, medications, surgery prep, recovery and follow up, medication topics, treatment options and more. Your care team may share this information with you in a number of ways, including through eGuthrie, email or text.

If your provider assigns this patient education to you, you will receive instructions like this in your After Visit Summary:

Your Guthrie Provider has assigned education to you which includes easy-to-understand interactive videos or patient handouts, intended to make you feel more comfortable about your health.  To access this education:

  • If you have an eGuthrie account, review your eGuthrie messages for details.
  • If you do not have an eGuthrie account but have an active email on file with Guthrie, UpToDate will send you a separate email for each program assigned, including a link and unique 11-digit access code.  It won’t matter which codes you use if you have multiple programs, though all codes will take you to your learning dashboard, where you can review all assigned programs.
  • If you do not have an eGuthrie account or an active email, you will receive a phone notification from UpToDate with instructions on how to access your education.

Education is available for 30 days from the date it was assigned.  Review it as many times as you like, and share with family and friends.
