Guthrie Physical Therapy provides rehabilitation for a loss of function due to illness, injury or surgery. Physical therapists treat injuries related to bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles. Other issues that may be addressed include balance, strength and coordination. Therapists develop an individualized plan to help you recover as much movement as possible using a variety of modalities, including heat and cold, electrical stimulation, massage, range of motion exercises, strength training and manual therapy. Guthrie’s physical therapists are the only physical therapy practice in the area using the Graston Technique, a therapeutic method for identifying and treating soft tissue disorders.
The Graston Technique
The Graston Technique method uses a collection of six stainless steel instruments of particular shape and size, which our Guthrie Physical Therapist use to detect and resolve adhesions in the muscles and tendons. This is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that also enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and soft tissue restrictions.
The Graston Technique has decreased overall treatment time, allowing for faster recovery; reduces the need for anti-inflammatory medication; and resolves chronic conditions thought to be permanent. It also provides improved diagnostic treatment for patients.
