MRI Fusion Biopsy technology is used as a tool for more accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer. Fusion biopsy allows Guthrie physicians to analyze and plan a targeted biopsy of the prostate in patients with elevated and/or rising prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels.
The system fuses MRI images of the prostate with real-time ultrasound images, even if the patient moves. The combination of the MRI and ultrasound images allows for tracking of suspicious lesions for a more accurate biopsy and a personalized treatment plan. MRI fusion biopsy is a powerful technique in early diagnosis, treatment planning and tracking of prostatic cancer.
