Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, and early detection saves lives. Advanced 3D mammography—also known as tomosynthesis—significantly improves cancer detection rates while reducing false positives and unnecessary callbacks.

However, 3D mammography is not currently available at the Guthrie Owego Clinic, and the existing 2D unit is nearing end of life. This limits access to the most accurate and efficient screening technology for patients across our region.

Your support will help fund a new 3D mammography unit, ensuring patients receive clearer, faster, and more precise imaging, improving both early detection and peace of mind.

Why 3D Mammography Matters

Tomosynthesis creates detailed, layered images of breast tissue, allowing caregivers to:

  • Detect cancer earlier
  • Reduce false positives and repeat imaging
  • Improve accuracy for dense breast tissue

This technology is now considered the standard of care—and our community deserves it.

How Your Gift Helps

Donations to this campaign will directly fund:

  • Purchase of a new 3D mammography system
  • Installation and integration
  • Training for clinical staff

Once fully funded, the system will be installed and operational within 6–9 months

Join Us in Reaching the Finish Line

Thanks to Jeff and Paula Gural and the Tioga Downs Regional Community Foundation, we’ve raised the first $50,000 toward a new 3D mammography unit. Help us build on their generosity and close the remaining $105,000 to bring this life‑saving technology to our community.
