Nursing Program

The Mansfield University Nursing Program offers a baccalaureate degree in nursing science (BSN) and is affiliated with the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.  The Nursing Program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).  A BSN degree prepares students to work in a variety of professional settings. Increased numbers of health care institutions are requiring their nurses to earn a BSN.  This degree provides a solid foundation in nursing as well as the liberal arts and sciences.

Incoming freshmen spend their first 2 years on the University’s campus in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, taking courses in general education and nursing. The second 2 years are spent at the Mansfield-Guthrie Education Center, located in Sayre, Pennsylvania, where students take the majority of their nursing courses and gain extensive clinical experience in a wide range of specialty care units within the hospital. In addition, students learn in community settings such as home health agencies, nursing homes, school districts and outpatient clinics. The Sayre site includes Robert Packer Hospital, Guthrie-Mansfield Education Building and Student Residence.

The nursing program at Mansfield University blends the resources of Pennsylvania’s only representative in the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) and a medical center. The combination leads to a program that is strong, both academically and clinically. It is the only one of its kind in Pennsylvania and New York.
