Guthrie's Dr. Verlyn Warrington Receives Obesity Medicine Association's Prestigious Clinician of the Year Award
Dr. Verlyn Warrington, Director of Obesity Medicine for the Guthrie Medical Group, has been honored with the Obesity Medicine Association's (OMA) esteemed Dr. William H. McCarthy Clinician of the Year Award for 2024.
This prestigious award, which is driven by peer nominations, recognizes Dr. Warrington's exceptional contributions to advancing access to anti-obesity medicine and her tireless advocacy for accessible care.
A champion for expanding access to obesity treatments, Dr. Warrington played a pivotal role in shaping Pennsylvania's Medicaid coverage guidelines for anti-obesity medications, one of the most comprehensive in the nation.
Her expertise and guidance led to her appointment to the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and the Drug Utilization Review Board.
Dr. Warrington's influence extends beyond Pennsylvania. She shared her insights on Medicaid coverage with the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus in Connecticut, successfully securing endorsement for a key obesity medication access bill.
As chair of the Pennsylvania Advocacy Group, she spearheads statewide efforts to ensure equitable obesity care.
