Guthrie Vestal Hospice Earns Top National Honor for Veteran Care for Second Consecutive Year

Guthrie Vestal Hospice has achieved Level 5 status — the highest achievement in the national We Honor Veterans program — for the second consecutive year. The program is a national initiative led by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

This prestigious, recertified Level 5 recognition reflects Guthrie Vestal Hospice's deep and sustained commitment to providing specialized, veteran-centric care to patients who served in the U.S. military. Level 5 status is awarded to organizations demonstrating excellence in personalized care, community outreach and continuous quality improvement specifically tailored for veterans. 

To maintain Level 5 distinction, the Vestal Hospice team implements advanced practices, including: 

  • Advanced clinical screening protocols tailored for veterans 

  • Meaningful veteran-to-veteran volunteer programs 

  • Participation in community events honoring veterans 

The We Honor Veterans program educates hospice providers on the unique emotional, physical and spiritual needs of veterans facing serious illness, many of which are directly related to their military service. 

This recertification ensures that veterans and their families continue to receive care with the dignity, respect and specialized clinical expertise they deserve.
