Guthrie Troy Community Hospital Celebrates 75 Years of Service

Guthrie Troy Community Hospital celebrated its 75th anniversary today, a historic milestone honoring the hospital's deep roots in the community and its enduring commitment to high-quality rural health care.
The celebration brought together community members, caregivers and local and state dignitaries to recognize the hospital's legacy of healing and hope. Remarks from Guthrie leaders and elected officials highlighted the resilience of the Troy community and the vital role the hospital plays in the region.
"Great institutions are never built alone. They're built through partnership, perseverance and shared purpose," said Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, President and CEO of The Guthrie Clinic. "That's exactly what we're here to celebrate: 75 years of a community coming together to ensure that high-quality health care would always be available, right here at home."
The celebration also paid tribute to the dedicated caregivers who are the heart of the hospital.
"In a rural community, a hospital can serve as the anchor families depend on, providing stability and peace of mind in their most vulnerable moments, said Amber King, Director of Operations and Nursing Services at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. “But what transforms this facility from a critical resource into a pillar of health is the unwavering dedication of our caregivers It is their commitment, day in and day out, that has built a 75-year legacy of trust and turned this hospital into a true cornerstone of the community's well-being."
Other speakers at the event included Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen, State Sen. Gene Yaw, State Rep. Clint Owlett, and Bradford County Commissioners Doug McLinko, Zachary Gates and Daryl Miller.
Sen. Yaw; Rep. Owlett; and Commissioners McLinko, Gates and Miller presented the hospital with proclamations and citations honoring the anniversary.
Representatives from the offices of Gov. Josh Shapiro and U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser, along Tioga County Commissioner Sam VanLoon, were also in attendance to present the hospital with proclamations in honor of the anniversary.
From its beginnings in a remodeled home on King Street in the 1940s to the state-of-the-art facility that stands today, Guthrie Troy Community Hospital has evolved to meet the needs of the region, earning national recognitions for emergency care, patient experience and as a top workplace.
"Like those citizens who rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1869, you have shown that with extraordinary resilience and shared purpose,” Dr. Sabanegh said. “There is no challenge too great when we stand together."
