Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Earns Top Distinction for Organ Donation Education and Advocacy

September 8, 2026

Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital is pleased to announced it has received Titanium Recognition in the annual Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) Donate Life Pennsylvania Challenge.

Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital was one of only 18 hospitals across Pennsylvania and West Virginia affiliated with CORE to receive this prestigious honor, which is the highest recognition level. The achievement reflects the ongoing commitment of caregivers across the organization to support organ and tissue donation and ensuring patients and families have the opportunity to give the gift of life.

“Organ donation is one of the most powerful and selfless acts a person can make,” said Joseph Sawyer, Senior Vice President and President of Pennsylvania Regional Hospitals. “It is a critical, life-saving gesture for the recipients and a testament to the generous spirit of the donors who literally gift life.”

The Donate Life Pennsylvania Challenge is a joint initiative of the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) in partnership with both CORE and Gift of Life Donor Program, which are the two organ-procurement organizations that serve the state.

Information about organ donation and registration forms are available at both organizations’ websites.
