Guthrie Hosts 55th Annual Recognition Award Banquet

Guthrie held its 55th Annual Recognition Award Banquet on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Best Western Grand Victorian in Sayre. Employees were recognized for their years of service, ranging from five to 45 years. 25 employees who retired or will be retiring in 2019 were also recognized. 

Each year, Guthrie recognizes employees with the Donald Guthrie Distinguished Provider Award and the Donald Guthrie Distinguished Employee Service Award, presented by Dr. Joseph Scopelliti, Guthrie President and CEO. 

The Donald Guthrie Distinguished Provider Award was presented to Melissa Bohac, PA-C, Associate in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Sayre. Melissa was one of forty providers nominated for this award and recognition. For the past 19 years, Melissa has participated in Medical Missions in the Philippines with plastic surgeons to help repair children with cleft lips and palettes. Her willingness to provide outstanding service has made a meaningful difference to her coworkers at Guthrie, her patients and the communities she serves.

The Donald Guthrie Distinguished Employee Service Award was presented to Stephanie Potter, Ophthalmic Assistant in Ophthalmology in Corning. Stephanie was selected for this award after being nominated by her colleagues. She was praised for her knowledge and willingness to go out of her way to help those in need. 

Dr. Albert Lichtenstein was recognized for his many years of service as the Chairman of the Reward and Recognition Committee of the Guthrie Medical Group. Bruce Askey, NP, Bariatric Surgery, has assumed the position as Chairman.
