The Guthrie Cortland Renzi Health Campus recently unveiled a plaque in honor of Bruce Hollenbeck and his late wife, Janet Hollenbeck.

The main reception area of the facility has been named in honor of the couple, known throughout the region as the longtime owners/operators of Hollenbeck’s Cider Mill in Virgil.

The Hollenbecks provided the Cortland Memorial Foundation with a generous $100,000 donation to support local healthcare and to give back to the community that has shown their business so much support over the decades.

“Every kid in Cortland and the surrounding area remembers Bruce as the dear, sweet man who pressed the cider at Hollenbeck’s for many, many years,” said Sheila Ossit, Director of the Cortland Memorial Foundation. “Apples, homemade doughnuts, the best pies—Hollenbeck’s is a beloved Cortland tradition. It’s an honor to add such cherished names to this space at the Guthrie Cortland Renzi Health Campus.”

Bruce Hollenbeck has since retired from the cider mill, which is now operated by a relative. Janet Hollenbeck, a retired public school teacher, passed away in 2021.

The Guthrie Cortland Renzi Health Campus, located at 4057 West Road, opened in December 2024 at the site of the former JM Murray Center. Services include primary care, imaging, lab, walk-in care and multiple specialty care offerings.
