Guthrie Corning Hospital's John Olmstead Named a "CMO to Know"
The Guthrie Clinic is pleased to announce that John Olmstead, MD, FACS has been named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2026 Chief Medical Officers to Know. Dr. Olmstead is a general and breast surgeon who also serves as CMO at Guthrie Corning Hospital.
CMOs are tasked with overseeing safe, efficient and high-quality care within hospitals and health systems. Becker’s list honors CMOs who are elevating standards through innovative quality improvement and safety initiatives.
Becker’s highlights improved safety scores at Guthrie Cortland Hospital during Dr. Olmstead’s tenure and ties these achievements to his advocacy for interdisciplinary rounding, which strengthens coordination of care for patients.
The publication praises Dr. Olmstead for championing sound clinical strategy, standardized pathways of care, regulatory readiness and multidisciplinary alignment of physicians, nurses and the larger care team around shared priorities in quality improvement, risk management and sustainability.
