Guthrie, Corning Community College Partner to Offer Sterile Processing Technician Certification Program

September 4, 2026

Guthrie and SUNY Corning Community College are partnering to offer a Sterile Processing Technician Certification Program designed to prepare participants for careers in one of healthcare's most essential support roles.

The program provides an opportunity for individuals interested in entering the healthcare field or advancing their careers by becoming certified sterile processing technicians. These professionals play a vital role in patient safety by cleaning, sterilizing and preparing the medical instruments and equipment used in procedures across the health system.

Interested candidates must apply for a per diem sterile processing technician position at Guthrie by Sept. 11 and be accepted into the certification program. There is no cost to participants who are selected for the program.

Classes will be held Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Oct. 1 through Dec. 10, 2026. The program combines classroom instruction and practical training to help participants develop the skills needed for a career in sterile processing.

Individuals interested in learning more about the program can contact Margaret Carroll at MargaretE.Carroll@guthrie.org or 570-887-6507. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 11.
