The Guthrie Clinic Earns National Recognition from Lown Institute Hospitals Index
– The Guthrie Clinic has earned national recognition in the 2026-27 Lown Institute Hospitals Index, receiving top marks for social responsibility, equity and inclusivity. The independent ranking evaluates hospitals on measures including health equity, community benefit, patient outcomes and value of care, recognizing organizations that make meaningful contributions to the communities they serve.
The recognitions underscore Guthrie's commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities across New York and Pennsylvania that rely on our care.
"The Lown Institute's recognition reflects something that has defined Guthrie for more than a century: our commitment to improving the health of the communities we serve," said Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, President and CEO of The Guthrie Clinic. "These honors demonstrate that delivering exceptional healthcare means more than achieving strong clinical outcomes. It means ensuring access to care, advancing health equity, being a responsible steward of healthcare resources and helping communities thrive. Our caregivers live these values every day, and this recognition belongs to them."
Among the organization's achievements, The Guthrie Clinic earned A grades in Social Responsibility, Equity and Inclusivity, reflecting systemwide efforts to improve access to care, advance equitable outcomes and ensure patients receive high-quality care close to home.
