Guthrie Celebrated by Forbes with Dual Honors as a Leading Employer
Guthrie has been honored with two prestigious accolades from Forbes, underscoring its commitment to excellence as an employer and solidifying its standing in the industry.
Guthrie was named to Forbes list of America’s Best Employers for Women in 2024. We ranked in the top 100 overall, and top 25 of health care and social service organizations – the only one in our 10,000 square mile service area.
To create this annual list, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 150,000 women working at companies with at least 1,000 employees in the United States. Survey respondents were asked how likely they were to recommend their current and previous employers, and if they’d recommend any employers they knew through their industry or through family and friends who work there.
Participants rated their current employers in multiple areas, including working environment, pay equity, parental leave, and the company’s handling of incidents related to sexual misconduct and discrimination. Responses from the last three years were considered. Statista analysts also researched the percentage of women in executive and board positions at each company.
Guthrie’s workforce is 76% percent female, with women filling 72% percent of the organization’s leadership positions.
Guthrie was also named to the 2024 Forbes list of America’s Best-In-State Employers for the state of Pennsylvania. This ranking is open to companies from all industry sectors, with more than 160,000 employees surveyed working for companies employing at least 500 people within the U.S.
An employer's final score is determined on a state-by-state basis and is built upon employees’ willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family and recommendations from friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry.
“These recognitions are truly special,” said Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, President and CEO, The Guthrie Clinic. “This is not recognition that was actively sought out. Instead, it showcases, in real time, the way our caregivers think about us and the environment we have cultivated. Every day, they drive the results that make us a trusted health care partner in all the communities we serve.”
