Guthrie and Rotary Club of Cortland School Supply Drive Returns
With the first day of school fast approaching, Guthrie Cortland Medical Center and the Rotary Club of Cortland are pleased to announce this year’s Teacher’s Pet School Supply Drive.
Members of the community are encouraged to join us in supporting the hardworking teachers and students of the Cortland Enlarged City School District and Homer Central School District as they prepare for classroom success.
Teachers often spend their own money to ensure their students have the everyday essentials and tools they need for their lessons. The Teacher’s Pet School Supply Drive helps with that effort by ensuring classrooms are stocked with supplies that make learning accessible and engaging for everyone.
Through Friday, August 28, we’re asking our community to lend a hand and become a “Teacher’s Pet” by donating much-needed school supplies. Collection bins can be found at the following convenient locations:
- The lobby of Guthrie Cortland Medical Center
- The lobby of the Residential Care Facility at the hospital
- The Cortland and Homer branches of the First National Bank of Dryden
Most-needed items this year include:
- Lysol wipes
- Soft tissues
- Sandwich baggies
- Gallon-size baggies
- Pencil grips for students
- Sharpies
- Flare pens
Teachers are also grateful for the basics that every student needs, including:
- Pens and pencils
- Notebooks and looseleaf paper
- Folders and binders
At the end of this drive, dedicated Rotary Club members will sort and organize the donated items, and join Guthrie leaders to deliver the supplies to the Cortland and Homer school districts just in time for the school year.
When teachers and students have the right tools on hand, they can focus on what they’re in school to do: teach and learn. The community’s contributions to the supply drive are more than a donation. It’s an investment in our future.
