Guthrie and Rotary Club of Cortland Join Forces for School Supply Drive

Guthrie Cortland Medical Center and the Rotary Club of Cortland are thrilled to announce the return of the Teacher’s Pet School Supply Drive! We’re inviting the community to join us in a show of support for our hardworking teachers and students as they prepare for a successful school year.

Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the minds of future generations, often going above and beyond by spending their own money to ensure their students have the tools they need to thrive. Now, we have an incredible opportunity to help lighten their load and ensure classrooms are stocked with essentials that make learning accessible and engaging for everyone.

Through Friday, August 29, we’re asking our community to lend a hand and become a “Teacher’s Pet” by donating much-needed school supplies. Collection bins can be conveniently found at the following locations:

  • The lobby of Guthrie Cortland Medical Center
  • The First National Bank of Dryden, Cortland and Homer branches

Most-needed items this year include:

  • Lysol wipes
  • Soft tissues
  • Sandwich baggies
  • Gallon-size baggies
  • Pencil grips for students
  • Sharpies
  • Flare pens

Teachers are also grateful for the basics that every student needs, including pens, pencils, notebooks, paper, folders and binders.

At the end of this drive, dedicated Rotary Club members will sort and organize the donated items, and join Guthrie leaders to deliver the supplies to the Cortland and Homer school districts - just in time for the school year.

When our teachers and students have the right tools, they can focus on what really matters - teaching and learning. By joining in this effort, you’re not just donating supplies; you’re participating in something bigger.
