Garrett Hoover to Step Down
After five years as president of Guthrie Corning Hospital, Garrett Hoover will leave Guthrie to become president and chief operating officer of Carroll Hospital in Westminster, Maryland.

He added, “Garrett is highly community oriented and is passionate about providing quality care to patients in the Corning area. At Corning Hospital, Garrett is a hands-on leader who fosters a positive work environment and cares deeply for the staff. We appreciate his dedication to the organization and to our community over the past five years and we wish him well in his new role.”
Carroll Hospital is a 161-bed acute care facility and a LifeBridge Health Center. Serving the Greater Baltimore region, LifeBridge Health consists of five hospitals and several subsidiaries and affiliates.
Mr. Hoover will remain with the organization to support key initiatives and ensure a smooth transition before assuming his new duties on March 30.
Guthrie has begun the search for a new hospital president. In the interim, current hospital leaders will expand their administrative oversight and Paul Vervalin will serve as the interim hospital president.
Guthrie is a non-profit integrated health system located in north central Pennsylvania and upstate New York, serving patients from a twelve-county service area. Guthrie is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network and is the first health system based in Pennsylvania and New York to join this network. Guthrie is comprised of a research institute, home care/hospice, hospitals in Sayre, Pa., Corning, N.Y., Towanda, Pa., Troy, Pa. and Cortland, N.Y., as well as a multi-specialty group practice of more than 325 physicians and 210 advanced practice providers offering 47 specialties through a regional office network providing primary and specialty care in 22 communities in Pennsylvania and New York. In addition, Guthrie offers home medical equipment and respiratory therapy products at seven convenient Med Supply Depot locations. Guthrie provides a wide range of services and programs to enhance the health and well-being of those it serves.
