Final Numbers in for 2018 Sayre Turkey Trot - More Than $16,000 Raised

May 6, 2019

On Thanksgiving Day 2018, more than 800 regional runners and walkers participated in the Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot presented by the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary. Now that the final numbers are in, Guthrie is excited to announce that more than $16,000 was raised for programs that promote access to and education about nutrition and healthy eating like the Guthrie Community Garden.

Now in its 4th growing season, the Guthrie Community Garden is volunteer run and features 24 raised beds for growing fresh, seasonal vegetables that are distributed to local food banks.

“The support of our community, through the Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot, or simply by volunteering in the garden, is critical to the success of these programs. We appreciate all the support that we have received during our first three growing seasons and we’re looking forward to this one,” said Erin Wayman, Manager, Benefits and Wellness at Guthrie.

Kyle McDuffee, president of the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary and the Director of Food and Nutrition at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital said, “The Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary is proud to support programs that improve the health and well-being of the families in our community. Our sponsorship of the Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot, which benefited initiatives like the garden and food festival, is just one way that we can help our hospital, our patients, and our community at the same time.”

Up next in the Guthrie Race Series, presented by the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary, is the 35th annual Guthrie Gallop on May 11, 2019.
