Emergency, Cardiology Entrance to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center to Move Temporarily
The Emergency Department (ED) and Cardiology entrance at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center will be temporarily relocated this week to accommodate the installation of new doors into the ED.
The temporary ED entrance will be through the ambulance bay. It is expected to be in place from 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 4 until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 5. Signage will be posted to direct visitors seeking emergency care to the proper location.
Also beginning on June 4 at 7 a.m., cardiology patients are asked to use the main entrance on the north side of the hospital to check in. They will be escorted to their appointments from there. This temporary change will be in place longer, until Friday, June 12.
Efforts will be made to contact patients with cardiology appointments scheduled for those days to inform them of this temporary change.
The new doors are part of the current phase of the ED renovation, which is focused on improving the comfort, function and flow of the waiting room and triage area. The work is part of the larger $7.2 million transformational renovation of the emergency department that began in September 2024. Previous phases introduced a redesign of the ambulance bay, the addition of a permanent decontamination room and additional rooms in the ED.
