Community Turns Out for Guthrie Gallop, Generating More Than $25,000 for Cancer Care Fund
For 42 years, the Guthrie Gallop has turned miles into medicine. On Saturday, May 16, 363 runners helped write the latest chapter, raising more than $25,000 for the Cancer Care Fund at Guthrie — providing critical financial support to cancer patients across the Twin Tiers.
The 42nd annual Guthrie Gallop, presented by the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary, drew participants to the streets of Sayre and Athens boroughs for a morning of running, community and celebration.
The 10K and 5K courses began at the historic Sayre Theatre, 205 S. Elmer Ave., winding through both boroughs before a Kids Fun Run brought out the next generation of Gallop participants to close out the morning.
The Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary, this year's title sponsor, has long been a driving force behind the Gallop's mission — channeling the energy of race day into meaningful support for those navigating a cancer diagnosis.
The Cancer Care Fund at Guthrie provides direct financial assistance to patients, helping offset the costs that so often accompany treatment. Every dollar raised stays local, supporting neighbors and families across the Twin Tiers.
