When the lights go up at the fourth annual Dancing with the Stars Gala in Bradford County, a familiar Guthrie leader will be trading her spreadsheets for sequins.

Lucia Saggiomo, Vice President of Corporate Revenue Cycle, is stepping onto the stage at the historic Keystone Theatre in Towanda, Pa., at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31.

The gala, hosted by the Bradford County Regional Arts Council, showcases local talent while raising funds for youth programs, community productions and arts education.

For Lucia, saying yes was about more than learning choreography — it was a way to give back to the theaters that helped shape her family.

A legacy in the arts
Lucia's three children grew up on local stages. Her son Matt is now a professional dancer in New York City. Her son Scot is a regular in the Binghamton and Owego theater communities.

All three children, including her daughter Becca, spent years performing with the Missoula Children's Theater.

"Our weekly Friday night tradition was to attend the movie at Sayre Theatre and order a big bucket of popcorn," Lucia said. "I want others to continue experiencing and enjoying the arts in our community."

Lucia herself performed in dance and theater when she was younger and jokes that her talent has "expired." But a milestone birthday this year nudged her out of her comfort zone — and back under the stage lights.

"I'm showing that you're never too old to try something new and literally get yourself out there," she said.

Team Meatballs and Martinis
Lucia is performing as part of "Team Meatballs and Martinis" with dance partner Steve Yanuzzi and choreographer Katie Behm. The team name nods to their shared Italian heritage and the restaurant industry that has been part of each of their lives.

Lucia says the team has made the experience energizing and fun, inspired by what she learns every day.

"Katie has made it fun and doable," she said. "Our dance fits our personality and abilities. Spoiler alert: There will be no aerials!"

Cheered on by the Guthrie family
Lucia has felt strong support from her Guthrie colleagues. Teammates decorated her office, and she's been receiving a steady stream of encouraging texts and messages.

"Our CRC and finance teams have been so amazing throughout this journey," Lucia said. "Words cannot express my appreciation."

How to watch and vote
The gala has sold out, but while the Keystone Theatre will be at capacity, Guthrie caregivers can still join in from home.
