Auxiliary Donates Over $587,000 to Guthrie Causes

October 23, 2018

At its October meeting, the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary held a check presentation awarding $60,000 in funding to two causes.

Funds in the amount of $50,000 were given to support Sayre House of Hope, a home away from home for patients and their families who travel to receive medical treatment at Guthrie in Sayre. Funds in the amount of $10,000 were given to the Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot, an annual 5K held on Thanksgiving Day in Sayre, Pa., to secure a title sponsorship. The Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot, presented by the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary, will benefit two wellness related causes: the Guthrie Community Garden, which provides fresh produce to patients with food insecurities and the Food Farm Family Festival, an annual event in Sayre designed to promote healthy habits for all ages.

These donations round out more than $587,000 that the Auxiliary has provided in support of Guthrie initiatives and programs in 2018, including:

  • The new Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Emergency Department and Cardiovascular Center
  • Sayre House of Hope
  • Mark Stensager Human Service Fund (for flood relief to community members)
  • Lymphedema Training
  • Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot, Presented by Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary
  • Deb Nole Memorial Scholarship Fund (for nursing scholarships)
  • Guthrie Choir
