Language Interpretation Services
The Guthrie clinic provides 24/7/365 interpretation services to ensure all patients, and their support person(s), can fully understand conversations and instructions regarding the medical care we provide to them. Guthrie takes pride in offering more than 230 languages, including American Sign Language, available over the phone or via video computer technology. We also provide in-person American Sign Language when it is needed. All language services provided by Guthrie are provided without any additional cost to our patients.
You have the right to get information in a way you understand. If you don't speak or understand English, or if you have trouble hearing, you can get an interpreter for free. This also means you can get help if you have trouble speaking or seeing.
Why it's important to you – our patient
Here at Guthrie, we encourage our patients to be active participants in their health care, and we want to make sure our patients, and their families can effectively communicate with our caregiver team in the way they need, in the language they prefer.
Even if you have a family or a loved one that can interpret for you during your visit, they may not know the accurate medical language or vocabulary. Guthrie will provide qualified, medically trained interpreters that make sure you and your caregiver team communicate effectively during your visit.
Methods of Interpretation
Interpretation services are available at all our clinical locations 24/7/365, over the phone and via video computer technology. In-person American Sign Language interpreters can be arranged when needed.
Virtual
Both American Sign Language and spoken language interpreters can be accessed virtually via iPads and desktop computer technology.
Telephone
Spoken languages can be provided via telephone.
“Please Point to Your Language”
We have “Please Point to Your Language” posters at our facilities displayed in various locations. Please request one for your next visit. This will allow you to easily identify your preferred language for the Guthrie caregiver team.
