A study to investigate the efficacy and safety of tezepelumab in adult participants with moderate to very severe COPD.

About the study

The purpose of this study is to learn more about an investigational drug called Tezepelumab and if it could be a safe and effective treatment for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The study also hopes to learn more information about COPD and the health problems related to it.  

Patients who qualify for the study will receive two monthly injections of Tezepelumab (either the 210 mg dose or the 420 mg dose) or Placebo. Neither the patient nor the study team will know if which dose the patient received or if they received Placebo.

Treatment will last for up to 76 weeks. While patients are on the study, the study drug and any visits or tests that they have as part of the study will be provided free of charge. Patients will also be reimbursed for travel costs and other expenses that are associated with their study clinic visits.

Who may participate

  • Patients between 40 and 80 years old
  • Patients who have had COPD for at least 1 year
  • People who have been on inhalers for COPD for at least three consecutive months.
  • Have been treated for a COPD exacerbation in the past year
  • Patients who are current or former smokers who smoked for at least 10 years

Who may NOT participate

  • Patients with cancer
  • Patients who smoked for less than 10 years
  • Patients with asthma, tuberculosis or other respiratory (breathing) diseases
