Conference Description
Primary care physicians address an exceptionally broad range of patient needs—from acute, undifferentiated presentations to complex, multi system conditions—while also providing comprehensive preventive care and promoting lifelong wellness. As the first point of contact for most patients, they must efficiently recognize and prioritize concerns, develop collaborative care plans, and guide clinical decision making. This role requires close coordination with specialists and seamless integration of care across disciplines. At the core of effective primary care is a strong, continuous patient–physician relationship built on trust.
This important CME symposium Hot Topics for the Primary Care Provider is designed to support clinicians in this demanding and evolving role by strengthening clinical knowledge and enhancing patient outcomes across therapeutic areas commonly encountered in primary care. This program will review pertinent clinical background, current scientific understanding, and key recent advances across multiple specialties, with an emphasis on practical, patient centered approaches that address the real world challenges of today’s primary care practice.
Intended Audience
This symposium is most relevant for physicians and advanced practice providers involved in the practice of general medicine. This includes general interests, hospitalists, sub-specialists in internal medicine, family physicians, general practitioners, residents and fellows in internal medicine and family medicine.
Elements of Competence
The CME activity has been designed to change learner competence and focus on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
