With a long history of medical education, Guthrie provides a first class learning environment which combines classroom learning with hands on clinical experience in a working hospital. We have always striven to be both a clinical leader and thought leader in the world of medicine.
Our nationally renowned teaching facility at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. operates as a teaching hospital, bringing in first class medical students and residents to train in internal medicine, family medicine, and general surgery. It also runs a fully accredited Bachelors of Science nursing program and allied health programs in radiology technology, respiratory therapy, and medical laboratory sciences. The next generation of health workers receive hands on experience from experts in the field, and our patients are treated in an environment which is always learning and embracing new ideas.
Our campus provides the medical sophistication of a metropolitan hospital with the advantages of living and working within a rural community. The town of Sayre is within driving distance to regional cities such as Corning, Ithaca, Elmira and Binghamton, N.Y., and Scranton and Philadelphia, Pa. The Finger Lake and Adirondack Mountain regions of New York State and Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania are also within reach, and the town lies just off of I-86.
