The Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pa., the Guthrie Clinic Pharmacy and all regional offices throughout the Twin Tiers will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in observance of the Fourth of July/Independence Day holiday.
The 13th Annual Golf for Guthrie Hospice raised over $40,000 for hospice care. The event was held on June 19 at the Club at Shepard Hills in Waverly, N.Y. More than 50 local sponsors and donors, and 36 teams contributed to this year’s event. First place honors were awarded to the Wyoming Casing Team.
The event also saw the generous donation of $5,000 to Guthrie Hospice from the Sayre American Legion Post 283 in honor of their former commander Bruce Newman who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
Guthrie is challenging patients, employees and members of the community to stay active this summer with the 62 Challenge. The challenge is to complete 62 miles in 62 days – one mile a day during the months of July and August. The challenge encourages the community to get active by heading outdoors, exploring the area, and involving family, friends, and neighbors.
Guthrie is pleased to welcome Dr. John Kirkowski to the Guthrie Canton medical office. Dr. Kirkowski has been a family practice physician in the Troy and Canton area for over 40 years. Dr. Kirkowski will also be practicing in the Guthrie Troy medical office. Both practices are accepting new primary care patients.
Guthrie is pleased to welcome Bert Robles as the system’s new Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer. Robles joins Guthrie with over 30 years’ experience in management and information technology in both a business and health care setting.
The Guthrie Troy Community Hospital Auxiliary is pleased to announce Ike Bowers as the headline act for their annual free summer concert and ice cream social. Bowers, a local resident and a member of the rhythm and blues/doo-wop group Harold Winley’s Clovers, will be performing from 6:30 - 8 p.m. on July 10 on the green in downtown Troy.
The event kicks off with food and an ice cream social on sale from 5:30 p.m. Refreshments for purchase will include hot dogs, sloppy joes, ice cream and pies, and a variety of beverages.
