Guthrie Post-Concussion Support Group to Meet - Sept. 20

The Guthrie post-concussion support group for athletes and their families will hold its next meeting on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. in the 4 Blue Conference Room located on the fourth floor of the Guthrie Medical Group in Sayre, Pa. The meeting is free and open to the public.

This month’s guest speaker is Jeffery Pelachick. While playing football in high school, he sustained multiple concussions. Now majoring in Secondary Education at Mansfield University, Pelachick will talk about his injuries, and what it is like being a survivor of numerous concussions.

Guthrie Awards Over $13,000 in Grants to Support Local Projects Tackling Obesity

Guthrie recently awarded three local organizations with grants totaling $13,813, in an effort to target local obesity rates. S2AY Rural Health Network in Corning, N.Y., the Bradford County Branch YMCA, and the Bradford County Regional Arts Council were all recipients of the grant funds from Guthrie’s Community Benefit Grant Program.

Guthrie School of Medical Laboratory Sciences Announces Graduating Class of 2015

The Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital School of Medical Laboratory Sciences is pleased to announce its graduating class of 2015.  Three member of the graduating class will now join the Guthrie Clinic Medical Laboratory. 

This year’s graduates are Justin Labrie of Manchester, N.H.; Sylvia Rábago Rodríguez of Wyalusing, Pa.; Abagail Ware of Tunhannock, Pa.; Myrle Newcomer of Williamsport, Pa.; Abby O`Hara of Sayre, Pa.; Amanda Nassar of Elmira, N.Y.; Colby Robbins on Indian Trail, N.C.; and Sara Whipple of Watsontown, Pa.

Guthrie Named One of the Nation's Most Wired Health Care Systems for Fifth Year Running

Guthrie has been recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired hospitals, according to the results of the 2015 Most Wired Survey released by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).

This is the fifth consecutive year and the ninth time in thirteen years that Guthrie has been recognized with a Most Wired award. The survey showed that health data security and patient engagement are critical priorities for the health care systems who received this prestigious award.
